Ingredients
3largeboneless, skinless chicken breaststrimmed
salt and pepper
12oz.can root beerdivided
1cupbourbon flavored BBQ sauce
2Tbspminced dried onionor 1/4 cup finely chopped white onion
8sandwich buns
sliced cheddar cheeseoptional sandwich topping
pickleoptional sandwich topping
fresh veggies or saladas side dish
Instructions
Place the chicken breasts into the base of the slow cooker and sprinkle a few pinches of salt and pepper over the top. Pour half of the root beer can into the slow cooker.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce and remaining root beer. Stir in the minced onions. Pour the sauce over the top of the chicken in the slow cooker.
Set on low and cook for 8 hours, or high for 4 hours. Once cooked, shred the chicken and combine with the sauce from the slow cooker, make the chicken as "saucy and sloppy" as you like.
Spoon the shredded chicken onto the sandwich buns, with optional slices of cheese, pickles and more BBQ sauce.
