If vegetables could taste like candy, these might be the Reese’s of all cooked vegetables. The oven roasting gives the green beans a bit of a caramelized flavor…and the boldness and sweetness from the roasted garlic…and it’s almost like they are candied vegetables. Almost.
(Even though that’s a ridiculous claim, you have to try them and decide for yourself.)
This recipe is very simple…toss it all together in a bowl. Place on foil lined baking sheet. Roast for 8 minutes.
The only thing you’ll be waiting on is the oven to preheat up to the roasting temp!

Yes…this would be a great way to make green beans for Thanksgiving…and they only take a few minutes to roast, so they won’t hog the oven!

I agree 100% with the candy comparison- I’ve made myself sick on these before, I ate so many! We like them spicy, so we add red pepper flakes…so yummy. In the summer we grill them in a basket and they will make you forget about the meat. 🙂
Erin, The $5 Dinner Mom says
They are slightly addicting! Another reason I compared them to candy. You can’t just eat one…just like potato chips too! 😉

Do you think these will work with frozen bagged green beans? I received a bunch of frozen vegetables a while ago, and a huge percentage of them are green beans! French cut, Italian cut, normal cut.
Erin, The $5 Dinner Mom says
It should. I would thaw them in a bowl of warm water, then pat dry before mixing up and adding them to the baking sheet.
Brandi says
They would work just fine. I buy frozen green(whole) beans at Aldi. Toss them in some olive or canola oil with garlic and roast them in the over for about 15 minutes. And agree with Erin, these are the candy of all vegetables!

When do you add the parmesan cheese? I don’t see that mentioned in the instructions. Do you sprinkle it on after it finishes cooking?
Jenn K says
Yes, just before serving 🙂
