I love a delicious homemade batch of soft, gooey, cinnamon-y cinnamon rolls.
But they can take hours to make. And I love to make them…for the right occasion.
I got to thinking…how could I make a faster and easier version of cinnamon rolls…
Answer: AS BANANA BREAD.
It starts with a basic banana bread recipe…then you add in cinnamon chips and white chocolate chips into the batter…then you top the baked banana bread with a cream cheese glaze.
And you end up with this magical loaf of bread…
Cinnamon Roll Banana Bread
All the flavors of cinnamon roll...but much easier to prep and bake!
Servings - 12 slices
Ingredients
Banana Bread
- 2 ripe bananas mashed with fork
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup butter melted or softened
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup cinnamon chips
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
Cream Cheese Glaze
- 3 Tbsp cream cheese softened
- 2 Tbsp butter softened
- 2 Tbsp heavy cream or 1 Tbsp milk
- 1/4 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup powdered sugar add 1/4 cup more at a time for desired consistency
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 F. Lightly grease 2 – 9×5-inch loaf pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the wet ingredients in the order listed and mix well. Add the dry ingredients and form the batter. Fold in the cinnamon chips and white chocolate. chips.
- Pour batter into the prepared baking dish.
- Loaf pan: Bake in the preheated oven for 55 to 65 minutes.
- With about 10 minutes left in the baking time, make the glaze as follows.
- In a small mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, butter, cream and vanilla. Mix in the powdered sugar and pinch of salt.
- Once the bread is finished baking, remove from oven and place pan on cooling rack.
- Pour the glaze immediately onto the cooked bread and spread evenly. Let cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
