Half of the family has finished their dinner.
The other half was sidetracked by the gorgeous weather, and the desire to use every moment of sunlight to work on “opening up the garden.”
(Nevermind that it might snow next week. I’ve GOT to get my seeds for the spinach and lettuces, or is it LETTUCI?!, into the dirt.)
So open the garden up we did.
The little people ate and are off at the library (with their daddy) hanging out with the life size caterpillar from “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.”
The big people will eat later.
Here are my super simple buffalo chicken wings…minus the celery and the blue cheese dipping sauce!
Buffalo Chicken Wings
Ingredients
- 3 lbs. chicken wings
- 1 small bottle Franks wings sauce
- 1 large loaf bread garlic and butter
- 2 large broccoli heads cut into florets
Instructions
- Marinate the wings in the hot sauce for at least 30 minutes, ideally overnight. Or better yet, freeze the wings in the sauce and let marinate as they thaw.
- Bake wings and sauce at 350 F for 30-35 minutes, or until no longer pink.
- Spread garlic salt and butter onto the loaf bread, and then warm the bread.
- Steam broccoli in stovetop steamer or in a microwavable bowl with some water, covered with plastic, for 4-5 minutes.
- Serve Buffalo Chicken Wings with garlic bread and broccoli.

Dont you just LOVE gardening? I planted my “summer” seeds last week and already over half of them have sprouted! I’m so excited.

That’s funny, I made bonelss hot wings for dinner tonight too! I took advantage of the Free Franks Hot sauce coupon and made a sauce for homemade chicken nuggets, served with corn and green beans. Yum!

@Dolli-Mama,
Yum! I’ll be using the other bottle of $.19 Franks to make some sauce!

I’ve been digging in the dirt everyday with the good weather. I can’t wait to get the garden planted.

I had to stop by to say I just love your enthusiasm about gardening. I live in Northern California and the sun is shinning, how could one resist planting seeds???!!. I am gonna do some pot gardening and take pics of my results soon. Gotta love those loving dirty hands and planting in God’s earth! I hope you post your garden pictures when you get it going!! Prayers for a great garden!! Hugs, Dee~

So I guess you did see the forcast 😉
I almost took the kids to that, too! But I was at their school this afternoon and then we stayed to play in the park and it got late and we had to make and eat dinner and …
blah-blah-blah.
Did they like it?
I’ve been trimming bushes, but I haven’t even thought about seed planting yet…
Erin, The $5 Dinner Mom says
@Jolyn@Budgets are the New Black,
They had fun! Now that the planters are ready, it’s seed time!

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who works outside with the threat of snow coming!! I built one of the 4f x 4f containers today. It was absolutely gorgeous outside! I’ll end up making 5-10 containers for family soon as long as we have more days like today!!

Wow, you found chicken wings on sale for cheap! It seems that somehow, wings are always one of the more expensive parts of the chicken these days. I can buy any chicken part for under $2, and whole chickens for less than $1/lb, but chicken wings? $3/lb. What’s up with that?
Anyway, yummy wings! This is a favorite in our household as well! And great job getting started on the garden. I did this last weekend as well. Of course, tomorrow, they’re saying it’ll be below freezing and a slight chance of flurries…oh well!

FYI-I found out that if you scratch your nails into a bar of soap before you garden, the dirt comes off more easily…works for me;-)

@Brittany Zachary,
Great tip! Thanks!
