What is “my cooking M.O.”?
Your cooking m.o. is how you operate in the kitchen. “M.O.” is a new buzzy abbreviation-word-phrase that’s being thrown around for ‘modus operandi’ or ‘how you operate.’ So your cooking m.o. is basically how you work and operate in the kitchen and it encompasses: your attitude toward cooking, your gratitude towards food, how you prep food, how you cook food…are you a make-ahead cook? Are you always struggling to keep up or feel like you’re spinning your wheels backwards? Are you a freezer meals cook? Are you a cereal for dinner cook?
What is an Instant Pot?
An Instant Pot is a brand of electric pressure cooker and it cooks food with a combination of heat and pressure, resulting in quicker meals and tastier meals. I adore the IP because it’s ‘hands off’ (as in you load it up and let it cook – similar to slow cooker) and because of the way that it cooks and infuses flavor into certain types of meals!
(If you don’t have one, I recommend this one.)
When and how do you use it?
I talk more about this in the video above, but I find myself using mine 4-5 nights a week. If I’m not using it to make a freezer to Instant Pot meal, then I’m using it to make a ‘fresh meal’ or a side dish or a big bowl of beans.
And sometimes I’ll use it to make 3-4 things in the same ‘sitting’ – hard boiled eggs, then rice, then shredded chicken. (This is why I have 2 inserts!)
It is slowly becoming a permanent fixture on my kitchen counter!
I think whenever you come across a new appliance like this, it’s hard to imagine where it fits into your schedule or your cooking routine! Watch the video above, and then get registered for my EPC101 class…and you’ll be on your way to becoming a Instant Pot Rockstar!
