Well, it would seem that the Pumpkin Shortage of 2009 continues on into the holiday season of 2010.
The shelves remain empty. Still.
But I would imagine come November 1st, the canned pumpkin will start to show up again on store’s shelves…just in time for the biggest pumpkin pie fest ever! (Did you know that over 50 million pumpkin pies are baked on Thanksgiving day?!)
I can just see it now…we have all been so deprived of our canned pumpkin…I mean…it’s been 2 years now, right. We’ve all learned our lesson and we know better this time to STOCK UP!!! This could get really ugly…12 people vying for that last can from the holiday shipment. Oy!
Just remember to look for organic variety that may still be sitting on the shelf, perhaps in another part of your grocery store. Of course, you can make your own pumpkin puree, or use baked butternut squash in place of pumpkin puree.
And if all else fails and you are completely desperate to make some Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins…you can order organic canned pumpkin puree from Amazon. But you’re going to pay a pretty penny for it!
Just promise me…no elbow throwing or cart shoving when it does show up on the shelves…m’kay?!
Update: If you’d like to know how to cook a pumpkin in your slow cooker, Toni has a great tutorial!
Are you having trouble finding canned pumpkin in your area? Let us know “your area/store’s status”!
Carrie says
I still have one can in the pantry. I also have a sweet pumpkin pie pumpkin plant in the garden that has 4 good pumpkins going and maybe more on the way. I suddenly feel very prepared for this fall!
Fran says
I heard about this last year but I never had any real trouble finding pumpkin when I needed it. I made a lot of pumpkin cookies last holiday season!! Can’t wait to make some this year. Maybe I’ll buy a can or two a week until I need them…..
Trish @IamSucceeding says
I can find the organic brands but no others.
Heidi says
I had this problem last week when my little girl Lexie insisted on making pumpkin cheesecake. Four stores later we were out of luck and tired. Not one can anywere not even Wal-mart. She was so dissapointed and so was I.
Andrea says
The first year we were in Jordan (2008), I drove all over that country looking for pumpkin! I had no idea I would have the same issue this year! Oy.
Denise@ DensDailyLife says
I just asked at my store yesterday about Libby’s pumpkin – they have none on the shelves either, I wanted to make the pumpkin cookies that my daughter loves. They did have large cans of pumpkin pie mix or an organic alternative of real pumpkin (which I might have to get even though it’s double the price).
Nadine says
I live in SW Georgia, and I have not been able to find canned pumpkin for the last 6 months! I have looked in every grocery store I have gone into. I cannot wait for November, I WILL be stocking up BIG time! 🙂
Rhonda says
Hmm, I haven’t had any problems finding canned pumpkin here in New York. My Wegmans has them on the bottom shelf under the jello/pudding boxes. They were there last year and I’ve always been able to get them when I need them. (it’s not often)
Heidi says
Just talked to the live chat on the Libby’s site and this is what they told me.
“Mike: Unfortunately, due to unfavorable weather conditions last fall, our harvest was smaller than normal and this caused a shortage in our supply. We anticipate that the product will be available in stores by the end of this month.”
I am ready!
jan says
it’s not the season yet… but it’s obviously time to start stalking and stashing cans.
Cynthia says
In years past I had found cans on clearance after the holidays and stocked up. Last year there was none to be found even before the holiday, and the rare can I did find had a hefty markup. I used fresh sweet potatoes instead. At the holidays they were only .29/lb! All you have to do is pierce and roast for about 45 minutes, cool and they fall right out of the skins. I substituted the sweet potato puree in my recipes, and we had a sweet potato pie instead of pumpkin. No one was any the wiser!
Melinda says
I’m so thankful for our bumper crop of butternut squash 2 years ago. I canned up many pints and still have some to use. That’s a good thing since we had no squash or pumpkin even come up in the garden this year.
Rachel says
I still have a can from last year but the shelves were full when I was on the baking aisle the other day…. interesting. 🙂
Thanks for keeping us up to date, Erin 😉
Rachel (Hounds in the Kitchen) says
Every year I puree and freeze pie pumpkins from local farmers. This year I grew my own and have 10 pie pumpkins ready to be used. No shortage here!
Sarah (Frontier Kitchen) says
I actually made pumpkin puree last year because I was so desperate. It’s really super easy. Grab a pie pumpkin, slice it in half, brush a bit of oil on, roast it at 375 for at least 30 minutes. It was so fun to make a pumpkin pie completely from scratch. I think I’ll do it again this year just for the heck of it. 🙂
Staci A says
Our stores have been out for months. So when my 6 year old started requesting pumpkin dip last week, I had to call relatives to find some. Luckily my mil stocked up last year and was willing to share! It made for one happy little boy!
Amy says
I’ve heard you can use mashed sweet potatoes in place of pumpkin. Is this true?
Alea says
@Amy – Yes, you can use pureed sweet potatoes and an advantage to pureed sweet potatoes is that you can reduce the sugar a little bit. When I replaced the pumpkin with sweet potatoes in my pumpkin donut recipe, I was able to reduce the sugar 3/4 cup to 1/2 cup. My daughter declared them the “best pumpkin donuts ever”.
Kirsten H says
Stores have been mostly out of pumpkin here since last winter, though at least one local grocery store had some in stock recently. I have seen signs up that new supplies of pumpkin are supposed to arrive in late September.
Because of the 2009 shortage, my mom and I both grew our own this year. She doesn’t even really like pumpkin, so she is giving all hers to me. I think I will have four in my garden and she has seven in hers, so I should be good to go…at least for a couple months. 🙂 With no supply problems I could easily use 2-4 cans per month for my own cooking and baking. I LOVE pumpkin so it has been a disappointing year for me not being able to buy as much as I would like.
Robin says
I have also been looking for canned pumpkin. I will buy a ton when the stores finally get it!
These look fantastic BTW.
Crystal's Cozy Kitchen says
You can also use pureed carrots as a substitute for pumpkin in pumpkin cookies – works great!
Marguerite says
They must have sent most of their stock to Texas, because we’ve had it on the shelves without a problem every time I’ve thought to look… I don’t use pumpkin all that much, but whenever anyone mentions it I notice we have pumpkin on the shelves in my local HEB. I could start shipping it out to ya’ll 😉
Erin, The $5 Dinner Mom says
@Marguerite,
I am in TX at the moment and will stop into an HEB to get some and take home!!!
Jean says
I’ve been craving those pumpkin choc chip muffins – why did you have to blog about them & make me try them?! I am going to buy several cans when I see them, as well as buy some pumpkins @ the farmer’s market & make some of my own to freeze. I don’t ever want to be out ever again!
Anne says
I mostly use pureed pumpkin that I make myself from fresh pumpkins, but last year, I frequently bought canned pumpkin as a “first food” for my DS, and never had trouble finding it. I like to use it to make pumpkin spiced lattes too… yum! Anyway, I’ve never noticed a shortage around here, that’s weird.
Feifel says
Southern Illinois has been out of pumpkin since last December. I use baby food jars of pureed squash, full of vitamin A, in my pancakes and muffins, turns out quite nice. Use sweet potatoes to replace pumpkin in pie, again more Vitamin A and yummy. The baby food squash tastes amazingly like pumpkin in pancake and muffin recipes. Pumpkin showed up on our shelves here last November and was gone in a day and we had to wait two weeks for more. Hopefully, local grocers realize the need and will stock up better this year. I will check this week-end to see if they know when supply will come.
Clara says
Still have a few from last year. Getting ready for pumpkin spice pancakes in the morning. Baking of muffins and bread too. Only the two of us now. Grocery purchases have went way down.
alexis says
Our local farmers are starting to have an abundance of pumpkins. They are one of the easiest veggies to preserve–the oven really does all the work. Then put them in your freezer. Not only do you support your local economy, you save yourself money, its better for your health having more nutrients being so close to home, and we aren’t relying on a corporation to provide us our food!
I’m off my soapbox now 🙂
Linda says
Seems Longmont, Colorado is out of pumpkin. Though I admit I forgot to check at Natural Grocers…..I was lucky to find a big can in the pantry for some yummy pumpkin bars!
Linda says
I live in a small town in north Texas and we have not had a problem finding canned pumpkin.Dollar stores even have it.
Emily says
I can’t find any canned pumpkin locally either. The shelves are empty. I actually just ordered the organic pumpkin from amazon because believe it or not it’s the same price as Libby’s at my store! I haven’t had my pumpkin chocolate chip muffins in way too long.. my family missed them!
JeNell says
Still no pumpkin at Wal-Mart on US 49 in Gulfport, MS., or any of the other stores in my town. Sure won’t be like Thanksgiving without it.
Shannon says
I have been bugging my local Bel Air in Roseville, CA for over three weeks about ‘why isn’t there any pumpkin?’ The claim complete ignorance of the ‘shortage’. At least now I know I’m not a paranoid, conspiracy theorist! I happen to have 20 pumpkins growing in my own garden right now, so, I guess I’m going to be making my own canned pumpkin this fall.
Cindy says
Every year I bake between 150-200 pumpkin rolls. Last year when I heard that the pumpkin crop got flooded, I started to buy extra cans everytime I was at the grocery store just in case we couldn’t get it this year. There has been no canned pumpkin on the shelves in months. Every time I go I see someone hunting for it. So glad I stocked up last year and don’t have to worry about my sales for this year. I have enough to make at least 150. I will bake until it is gone and then quit. Between the fact that they keep saying eggs are going to $5 a dozen, the high price of cream cheese and the shortage of pumpkin…..wow…..prices are going to go up.
Jenny says
I haven’t noticed a shortage here in NE Mississippi. Sounds like we were some of the lucky ones! Our cub scout pack planted sugar pumpkin seeds for Earth Day this spring, and I have vines going crazy all over the back yard. I’ve never been a fan of pumpkin flavored things, but my family is. Then I tried fresh pumpkins, roasted and pureed. Oh yummy! My favorite pumpkin recipe is the Hungry Girl peanut butter “fudge”.
Sarah Roe says
I am from Upstate NY, near Binghamton, and we have not been able to find canned pumpkin in a long time. So depressing. Now that it is September, we are all getting the itch to make baked things with..pumpkin!! I hope it comes back soon. I don’t mind making things with sweet potato, but canned pumpkin is so much easier.
Ali bee says
I live in Southern California and I have looked at every market you can think of with no luck. I bought a frozen pie on sale just to get the itch scratched and it was terrible. I will continue to look but I might soon be one of the people buying off of ebay.
Anna says
No canned pumpkin in Southern CA. 🙁 I feed it to my dogs to help with tummy problems and haven’t found it anywhere. Grocery stores don’t have any. I asked about Halloween pumpkins too and they said they didn’t know if they would get those in either… in the past I have used those to make my own pumpkin mash. I have just cut into slices and put into a pot of water to boil. When soft put them in the blender. Viola!
Marion says
Where are you?? I’m North of Austin, The HEBs near me have only organic. I bought a case of it last week at $2 a can which I did not think was a terrible price.
Matt says
I have been wanting some pumpkin puree for months to make a pumpkin cheesecake. Know about the pumpkin shortage since last year. Still kicking myself for not stocking up on it. My sister desperately needed some puree for a bread for Christmas. I gave her my last can of pie mix.
I have been going to grocery stores for the last few months a couple times a week even though I don’t need any food looking for puree. I get so angry whenever I go now since these groceries are selling pumpkin pies and other pumpkin baked goods and I can’t get any puree. Heck through this whole shortage there has been store made pumpkin pies at Kroger. The sad thing is store pumpkin pies always suck. I swear when I see some I am buying enough of it to make the cashiers think I am some type of weirdo. I also think Libby’s should issue some type of statement on when the puree and pie mix will be in stores and if there is going to be yet another shortage this year again.
But anyway I will be checking this site daily now in hopes I see some kind of news of pumpkin puree can sightings. And I am not joking about that.
Ed says
I haven’t seen any canned pumpkin in Effingham, IL for a long time. I started looking in early August, 2010.
Susan says
I have been looking all over the Denver Metro Area for canned pumpkin….No LUCK! It is a pumpkin crisis. No pumpkin bread for our Football Festivus party. Boo Hoo.
Becky says
I have been looking since February for pumpkin and no luck! I usually do have a stockpile of canned pumpkin but last year I used all but 1 can up. Hope I find some before this year’s holiday season begins. I have never made pumpkin puree from real pumpkin. Please share with me (and others) exactly how that is done. I always heard how hard that was to do. Thank you in advance.
Kate says
I live in Sarasota, Fl and yup, you guys guessed it! No canned Pumpkin here either!! Pumpkin Bread with Cream Cheese is one of my all time favorite foods and being 6 months pregnant, it’s all I want!! Booo! I’m hoping to see some soon and now that I know about the shortage, I’ll definitely be stocking when I do find it.
Heidi says
I live in central IL just a few minutes from Libby’s primary processing plant. This area also produces much of the pumpkin that is canned. This article is from our local paper this week http://www.pjstar.com/business/x1757234214/Pumping-up-the-pumpkins. Sound like things will not be as bad as originally predicted!
Paula Harris says
No Pumpkin to be found in springfield ohio
Ella Travis says
Still no canned pumpkin in the Southern California Antelope Valley!
Steffielou says
I live in southeast Louisiana, and have been looking for months for pumpkin for my lasagna and bread, with no luck. I thought I was imagining things, but I guess there is a major shortage.
kelly says
urg!!!! so frustrating. we love pumpkin, esp my husbands pumpkin soup. to us it is like not being able to buy milk for over a year. yesterday checked every store in our area. NONE AVAILABLE maybe this is a good reason not to let one company have a monopoly on any food product. pumpkin is a staple in new england, well at least it is to us. my husband said he would put an extra shelf in our walk-in pantry just for canned pumpkin once it hits the shelves.
Alisha says
No pumpkin here near Dayton Ohio! My local Meijers is now stocking canned sweet potato puree in the pie section with a little tag by it suggesting it to replace pumpkin! I have one large can of pumpkin puree and one large can of the pumpkin pie mix that I am afraid to use until its closer to Thanksgiving and I am able to get my hands on more pumpkin! That being said they have the small pie pumpkins for sale for 2$ per pumpkin now by the produce!
Kevin Richards says
On Aug. 24 in St. Louis Post-Dispatch online suburban edition, Libby’s said they were on track to ship in time to stock store shelves “in mid-September.” Nothing yet in any of our grocery stores. (We still have a 15-ounce and a 29-ounce.) I’m amazed at how many shoppers are unaware of the shortage.
Kathleen says
I have checked two different stores looking for pumpkin and finally got a straight answer from the folks at Kroger in Harrisonburg, VA. I was told that due to an outbreak of a pumpkin fungus, they have been unable to get any good canned pumpkin since last year. She had no idea when they might expect more but said there wouldn’t be any pumpkin in the entire area for awhile. I’m so sad, because I just found this delicious-sounding recipe for a pumpkin spice cake….
Angie G says
I live in Fenton, MO near St. Louis. Our local Schnucks, Shop ‘N Save, & Wal-Mart did not have it. Sav-A-Lot had the big can of Pumpkin Pie mix.
Alyssa says
i have searched walmart, target, and every grocery store in the area of Janesville, WI and there is no canned pumpkin to be found! I only make my pumpkin cookies a few months a year and usually it starts in September, but this year I can’t! I even work at a grocery store, and we aren’t scheduled to get any in til the end of this month, or the middle of next! THIS SUCKS!!!!
JANINE WEIMER says
I live in western Maryland, and having a very hard time locating any canned pumpkin. I look in four counties in two states.
Susan says
There is none here in Northeast NC. I make apple-pumpkin butter in late summer when my apples are ready, and I asked the store manager yesterday if there would be any pumpkin any time soon, and she said we may not get any! 🙁 I guess I should cook my apples and freeze them just in case we get some pumpkin later.
K. Smith says
No pumpkin here either. I found some Organic Canned Pumpkin but it was almost $4 a CAN! CRAZY!
Suzzanne says
I could not find any here in Lincoln, Nebraska. I wanted pumpkin so bad I found a pumpkin grower and bought two cooking pumpkins for $1.50 each and baked them and pureed them for pumpkin waffles….so if you’re really desperate, make you’re own! It was really pretty easy and far less frustrating than going to my 5th store to hunt for the canned. Each pumpkin nets about 4 cups.
Kristy @momhatescooking says
Since, I just recently started my cooking adventures…I had never used pumpkin but only a few times. Now, I’m dying to try a ton of pumpkin filled recipes! I think it could get ugly at the stores. I never thought about using possibly the organic version…going to have to see if that one is around!!
Debbie says
Checked all the grocery stores . No pumpkin on the shelves either here in Olympia, WA.
Desiree says
It wasn’t until I got a craving for some pumpkin cobbler that I even knew about a shortage. I have looked in almost every store possible here in Henderson, NV I even tried the organic food stores and still no luck finally ended up buying a regular pumpkin and baked, scooped, and mashed myself. Very frustrating when you have a craving.
Lori says
None in Louisville KY area either. One grocer told me that it is seasonal and would be in the next few weeks, I KNOW he had no idea of the shortage.
Stacie says
Been looking for it for weeks in several stores. Found it today at Walmart and bought 8 cans!
Ariel says
I just stopped by my local (Ithaca, NY) Wegmans and TOPS Markets. Both have Libby’s on the shelf ($1.79). Wegmans has the large Libby’s cans ($2.49) and an organic canned pumpkin ($1.99). I bought a few cans just in case, but if you live in the central New York State area, try your Wegmans store!
Amanda H says
I talked to the grocer at our local Kroger in Nashville, TN and he said that they hadn’t been able to get any canned pumpkin since January but they are expecting to get some in next week. He also told me to stock up and buy all I needed for the season then because they do not expect to be able to get enough to last through the season.
Laura says
None to be found here in Gig Harbor, WA. My kids are craving pumpkin bread so I’ve been on the hunt for it but so far no luck. I remember hearing about the shortage last year but didn’t think it would be this difficult to find any in September. Hopefully, it will arrive soon. I’m going to stock up!
Matt says
I found some at 2 different Walmart’s in Bowling Green, Ky.
patricia goodman says
Where do you live?
Stacy says
I can’t find it here either. I’m in Southeast Indiana. I bought a fresh pumpkin the other day and just got done roasting it. I plan to freeze it in one cup increments so that I can make all of my foods that we crave in the fall. One of these is a pumpkin cake I make for Thanksgiving. We CAN’T be without that. So, if this freezing goes over well, I wil be stocking up on fresh pumpkins to feeze.
BetteJean says
Illinois grows 95% of the nations pumpkin crop, and it’s been much less wet than the last few summers so here’s hoping the pumpkin shortage will be over 🙂
Cheryl Lopez says
Just bought 24 cans of pumpkin…just in case….had to drive a bit to get it!!!! but at least I prepared!
Tammy T says
I live in Douglasville, GA (west of Atlanta) and I found several cans of Libbys at my local Publix yesterday. I only bought 2 cans since I had some stashed away at home from last year. I am trying to not be greedy-but it is hard!
Kate says
I thought I was nuts for not being able to find canned pumpkin until I read this post! I live outside Washington, DC and tried two grocery stores but no luck. Whole Foods is my next stop. Here’s to hoping they have it!

Can’t find any canned pumpkin in Colorado Springs, CO. I may have to start baking Sweet Potato Pie instead, which, I am told, is superior anyway!
D SHIRLEY says
I have checked the Food Lion in Bunn, NC and the Walmart in Zebulon, NC…thought I was going crazy til I found this site. When temperatures start to cool down I want pumpkin bread-now what am I supposed to do??? UGH!
Jon Doe says
This year is nothing to be concearned about. The thing you need to realize about pumpkin is this. Canned pumpking is only produced for a short time ONCE a year. Usually from late August to Mid October/first week of novemeber.
Nestle/Libby’s has all retailers on an allocation, where they dictate how much Pumpkin each chain can have, at what time. The reason they are doing this, is they are still building thier inventories. Everything is good news coming out of thier company right now. They’ve been ahead on when they said they’d be releasing allocations. They released thier second wave nearly a full THREE weeks earlier than they anticipated. However what they are shipping is hard to keep everyone’s panic driven demand filled. You should not see any issues through thanksgiving, the main issue at this time is just getting everyone stocked up. The crop is good, it was ready on time, nestle planted MORE, so they should be in good shape. I wouldnt start worrying about stocking up until after Thanksgiving only if the word then is there are issues with providing for the rest of the year.
But all news is good right now. Seeing as i am a buyer for one of the largest retail chains in the country for this product and have been following it closely since this whole thing started 2 years agot with thier 15oz canning machine going down, you can take my word over any others in here.
So while it may seem not right there hasnt been anythign on teh shelves all year, the isnt anything that could have been done about it. YOu get one shot a year with pumpkin, and if something happens. You’re done for.
Jessica says
In Northern West Virginia we are still experiencing The Great Pumpkin Shortage. It is hard to not be able to make all my favorite pumpkin recipes for fall, so I may have to begin making my own puree. I do appreciate the tip on substituting the pumpkin for butternut squash. I will give that a whirl.
Thanks for the tip!
Carol says
I’ve been checking and rechecking at our local Kroger regarding pumpkin availability. The manager told me in early spring that there was and will be a shortage until fall of this year 2010. He said the farms had weather problems and the pumpkin crop suffered. I use pumpkin a lot in baking receipes and really have missed it. I hope it gets restocked by October — who knows!?
Teresa says
In the Richmond, Va. area, I haven’t been able to find canned pumpkin for quite some time, so I’ve been buying it online from Amazon.com, Vitacost.com, and Meijers.com. When those suppliers were out of stock, I bought Farmer’s Market canned organic pumpkin from Amazon and Vitacost. It’s slightly watery and lighter in color compared with Libby’s but it is an acceptable substitute. The biggest problem with Farmer’s Market is some of the 12-can cases contained badly dented/crushed cans but both suppliers refunded my money immediately for the damaged cans. The good news is that last Friday, Meijers online finally had Libby’s 100% pumpkin (29 oz. can) in 12-can cases for a little over $27/case plus $7+ shipping. My shipment should be here tomorrow and that’s great because my local stores still don’t have any Libby’s canned pumpkin of any kind.
Debra Hibbard says
What is the websites name for this merchant?
Marjorie says
I just got home from a Publix supermarket near Nashville TN. They had plenty of Libby’s 100% canned pumpkin on their shelves and the checkout lady looked at me like I was a weirdo because all I purchased was 8 cans of pumpkin. $1.79 a can.
Richard Neuenschwander says
We live in Albany Oregon and have looked all over and cannot find any canned pumpkin anywhere. They raise a lot of pumpkins here for the canneries but guess it goes elsewhere and sold through brokers from back east. All they have to do is store it in a warehouse for a year and drive the price up. That is called an artificial shortage.
UpstateNYmom says
None to be found in Central NY stores. There are, however, plenty of fresh picked pie pumpkins at every farm stand. No shortage there. Why take a chance? Grab some fresh pumpkins, process them in the oven or microwave, and toss it in the freezer. You’re one step closer to a fresh pumpkin pie for the holidays.
Allyson says
No canned pumpkin in Fort Worth, Texas! ;(

The above takes you to the Libby’s pumpkin page and it’s in stock. I had no problems with this vendor. Fast shipping, good packing.
Teresa says
Sorry for the triple response. The above link reverted to the home page when I tried it after clearing my cache. Type in “Libby’s pumpkin” (without the quotation marks) in the search box on the main page for meijer.com. That should get you there. Hope this helps. I still can’t find it in the Richmond, VA area.
David says
I finally found Libby’s canned pumpkin (15 oz) at the Harris Teeter on Duke Street in Alexandria, VA; hoping to find it at the Ft Myer Commissary, too. H-T price was $1.79. The pumpkin shortage appears to be over.
Sandy says
As of yesterday Kroger was still out of canned pumpkin. I asked at customer service but was told they did not have a date when it would be available.
catspaw says
I’ve looked at Harris Teeter, Martins, and Krogers – no pumpkin puree in the Charlottesville area that I’ve found. Bought 2 pie pumpkins at a farmers markets and going to make my own.

Alyssa,
I just left Walmart in Rockton, they have 4 cans left in the baking isle on the very bottom shelve. Good luck!

My sister found some at Walmart in Winchester, VA…tons of it. I am soooooo happy! I am currently overseas and will be home around the holidays. I basically sent her on a pumpkin hunt, and she was finally able to find some.

I was told we have no canned pumpkin because of the drought . Its easy to get your own pumpkin and it made out to be cheaper than if I bought the canned !
Courtney C says
I work at Walmart here in Michigan and we JUST got canned pumpkin in!! Everyone was asking and asking about it and due to the shortage we did not have any and did not know when we would get any in but FINALLY we got some. As soon as it was put out people were flocking to it and the next day I came it every last can was gone!! Better get it while you can…
Jenni says
Found canned pumpkin on Thursday here in SW Ohio. My mom also found it at Kroger. My daughters and I were so excited that we bought 7 cans. I have already baked a pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread.

Im in Minnesota… Haven’t been able to find any anywhere, until this morning… Super Target. Large sized Libby. A little over 2 bucks. They were in an odd spot, sorta near an end cap. I only bought 3, since I didn’t want to be greedy! But I have a feeling I might regret not stocking up a little more!
Brittany says
I wasn’t aware that there was a shortage and have been busy in the kitchen making all sorts of pumpkin based dishes. I’d love to share as they’re all absolutely fantastic…especially if you are on a gluten free or dairy free diet.

The shelves are stocked at Wegman’s here in Western NY. If you’re lucky enough to live close to one, I’d start your search there.

Hi Suzzane,

Well, its February 2011 and judging by the shelves at my local Kroger store, which has no pumpkin of any kind, the shortage is still with us.
Cindy says
I thought the pumpkin shortage was over, but I still put a few extra cans on the shelf. Seems I was right…no pumpkin in the last 3 stores. What’s up with this? I’ll have few pies in my future.
